Design a Green Building or Ecological house. Green buildings are buildings which are in harmony with the environment and make the best use of natural resources. Do an A.P.C. to determine what choices you can make in your design.

 

Large windows to let in as much natural light as possible. Large sun-roof to let in more sunlight.
Solar panels to generate power. Sunroof can be opened to cool the house in summer
Wind-pump to draw water directly from the ground. Recycle some used materials for building purposes - car tyres, aluminium cans, glass bottles etc.
Compost pit to recycle organic waste. Do not use any materials which are harmful to the environment
Recycle waste water for watering plants Use bubble or dome shapes to increase circulation of heat through convection
Water-cistern to collect rain water Dig a deep well
Gutter around roof to direct rain-water to water-cistern Make furniture out of recycled materials such as car tyres, wooden crates etc.
Use central heating powered by solar cells to heat house. Vegetable garden

 

Now make drawings of the exterior and interior of the house. Label the parts clearly and give brief explanations for your choices. Include also the design for one particular feature of the house such as the heating system, the water collection system, sun-roof opening system etc.
