St. Clare College Girls' Secondary School
(formerly Sir Luiġi Preżiosi Girls' Secondary School) is situated in Pembroke. It houses a population of around 200 students aged 11-15 who hail from Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, Gżira, Ibraġġ,  Madliena, Magħtab, Msida, Pembroke, San Ġwann, Sliema, St. Andrews, St. Julians, Swatar, Swieqi, Ta' Ġiorni and Ta' Xbiex.

The school was built by the British in 1908 and until the late 70s served as a primary school for the children of British services personnel. It was converted to a secondary school for girls in 1979, when
Rosary Secondary School and St. Louis Grammar School were amalgamated. In 1995 the Sliema Girls' Secondary School closed down and was also integrated with the already existing Sir Luiġi Preziosi Girls' Secondary School.

Ideally situated in pleasant surroundings on the main road leading to the Salina Coast Road, the school has a beautiful environment and occupies a fairly large area. It has about 20 spacious and airy classrooms, a multipurpose hall, two large yards and three smaller ones, a media room, two computer labs, two science labs, two home economics
/food technology rooms and other special rooms like those for design and technology, art and textile studies, all fully equipped with the necessary teaching aids. There is also a fully equipped library. In the summer months the school is very popular with foreign students who come to Malta to learn English.

Message from the Head of School:

I am proud to launch this school website. I am proud to be Head teacher of my 250 students - all extremely talented in one way or another and who have so much to give to the ones who touch their lives or will do so in the future. This website should keep you more in touch with what is going on at school and provide our students with information such as important links, notes and students' work. This should give them a sense of achievement.

I am proud to lead a team of teachers who are professionally prepared, vocationally keen and who give not only hours of non-stop hard work during the school day but also countless after-school hours of preparation of lessons and organization of activities. I thank those who made and will make this website possible.

I hope this website will show who we are - a learning community living and working together so that through education, we can change the world for the better.

We welcome any feedback. Join us.

st clare assisi

"This depiction of Clare of Assisi is also derived from a famous portrait, by Tiberius of Assisi, which hangs in the Basilica of St. Clare. In his portrait, she is seen offering a book (of the Gospels, presumably), while also clutching the flowers. This book in the context of Siena College represents knowledge, as it does in "Francis". Clare offers knowledge and invites the student to learn. The flowers represent contemplation and beauty. The combination of book and flower, therefore, represent the beauty of knowledge revealed through reflection."
