Learning Together... Achieving Together...  Succeeding Together...

WELCOME
Welcome to the website of  Girls' Junior Lyceum, Pembroke. We hope this website will provide parents, students, teachers and others with a convenient source of valuable information about the school's aims and achievements. The site's main aims are to help build and strengthen our school community of pupils, teachers and others. Therefore, any further enquiries or remarks about the school and our website would be most welcome.
About Our School

Our school is a Junior Lyceum for girls with  940 students on roll from ages eleven to fifteen. We offer an education service broad in vision, with a good track record of exam results and educational innovation. Situated in a spacious environment on the outskirts of Pembroke, the school has good sporting standards and extra curricular activities which also make use of the school's surrounding area.

Thanks to the on-going refurbishment of the school, this year we can now make use of the school hall in order to host activities for the Christmas period, Prize Day and other such activities. It is still being refurbished.  The school grounds have been finished in 2008 while the gym area is still being equipped. This will undoubtedly contribute to the good academic standards we would like to maintain.

The teachers themselves have the same positive ethos. Our staff, comprising of approximately one hundred, have developed their repertoire of teaching styles to meet the very different demands of the pupils. Both the administration and staff work tirelessly in order to provide a disciplined and structured environment for effective teaching and learning so that all pupils may maximise their academic potential. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the teachers and students for the success of this year's SEC results.

Moreover, almost every pupil continues into further education either at Junior College, Upper Secondary School or at a Vocational School. As Head of the school, I feel privileged to work in partnership with teachers, pupils and parents to provide a balanced, caring education.
I'm pleased to say that as part of the curriculum, our students will pursue a series of innovative activities by using Information Communication Technology (I.C.T.). Besides adding a fourth computer lab to our resources, I.C.T will be used to facilitate learning in addition to meeting National Curriculum requirements, such as I.C.T across the curriculum. This initiative will involve the students directly with the world of technology and will make a valuable contribution to their preparation for employment.

We believe that the school's aims should provide a framework upon which our pupils will gradually grow in maturity, responsibility and ambition. However, both parents/guardians at home and the school share a common goal for their children - that they will emerge into adult life as good citizens willing to lead useful lives.
