School Aims

1. To provide a curriculum which is meaningful; enjoyable and enriching to meet the individual needs of the pupils;

2. To develop the knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes which each individual pupil must acquire if he or she is to become as independent as possible and participate as much as possible in the life of his or her family, the school and the community;

3. To equip each pupil with the skills which he or she will need as a young adult after leaving the Resource Centre;

4. To have enough staff and provide the equipment required to meet the individual needs of pupils;

5. To provide a physical environment which makes the whole building and surroundings accessible to all pupils;

6. To focus on facilitating the inclusion of pupils into mainstream schools and their preparation for adult life;

7. To provide advice and support for the pupils’ families;

8. To encourage the active participation of parents and carers at all levels of the educational process;

9. To provide continuous professional development of staff;

10.To act as a resource centre to mainstream schools and provide services as required;

11.To train staff in mainstream schools in the use of specialised equipment and in any specialised areas as required.
