MILIED 2009 –
RIFLESSJONIJIET U MESSAĠĠ MILL-PRINCIPAL TAL-GOZO COLLEGE
Jekk
inħarsu sewwa lejn il-kelma MILIED nindunaw li hemm fiha kelma oħra li xejn
mhi sabiħa: il-kelma LIE li bl-Ingliż tfisser ukoll gidba. Minn hawn
nixtieq nislet xi riflessjonijiet.
Ikun
gidba il-Mlied jekk naħsbu li din il-festa tfisser biss xiri sfrenat ta’
rigali u tberbiq ta’ flus; ikun gidba il-Milied jekk dan iġib miegħu biss
ikla wara ikla, tbaħrid u xorb bla qies; ikun gidba il-Milied jekk injejju
għalih biss b’ħafna tiżjin u dwal artifiċjali li donnhom jimlew qlubna għal
ftit żmien biss. Naturalment m’hemm xejn ħażin li nifirħu u nferrħu b’dawn
l-affarijiet ukoll, imma kollox bil-qies… u, fuq kollox, mhux b’hekk biss.
Iżda
fil-kelma Milied hemm kelma oħra li tispikka: LIED li bil-Ġermaniż tfisser
għanja. Iva, aktar minn kollox, il-Milied hu għanja ta’ ferħ għax ifakkarna
li twieled il-Feddej tagħna biex jagħti verament tifsira lil ħajjitna.
Mingħajr din il-miġja ta’ Sidna Gesừ Kristu fostna, allura ħajjitna kienet
tkun mixja fid-dlam, bla sens u bla ragħaj. Il-Milied hu għanja ħelwa ta’
fidi, tama u mħabba, kor wieħed, vuċi waħda, imleħħna mill-qalb ta’ qalbna
lill-Ħallieq u lill-għajrna li hu maħluq xbiha tal-Mulej.
U minn hawn nixtieq nislet il-messaġġ tiegħi:
fil-ġar tagħna, f’dawk kollha ta’ madwarna, hemm il-messaġġ tal-Milied,
messaġġ ta’ vera mħabba li ma jispiċċax malli jgħaddi il-25 ta’ Diċembru ta’
kull sena, messaġġ dejjem frisk bħal ilma ġieri ħiereġ mil-blat
ħie li jgħodd f’kull waqt ta’ ħajjitna.
To live is to give. Imħabba tfisser li
tħobb lil għajrek, hu min hu, hi min hi, bla qies, mingħajr ma tippretendi
xejn lura; tfisser li tħobb lil kulħadd bla distinzjoni ta’ lewn, razza,
sess, status soċjali…; tfisser li toffri l-imħabba u l-għajnuna
inkundizzjonata tiegħek l-aktar lil dawk li huma fil-bżonn sew materjali,
spiritwali jew eżistenzjali. Kristu fil-maxtura hu xbiha ħajja, eterna ta’
kull maħluq, kbir jew żgħir, għani jew fqir, b’saħħtu jew muġugħ għax kull
maħluq hu għatxan għall-imħabba sinċiera ta’ għajru, għall-imħabba tiegħek u
tiegħi.
B’hekk il-Milied ixettel f’qalbna ferħ
veru u dejjiemi li jixgħel tbissima ta’ paċi u tama qaddisa fil-qlub ta’
kull wieħed u kull waħda minna.

Subject: Letter for Parents/Guardians of School Children
regarding A (H1N1) Virus
The Health Authorities and the Directorate for
Educational Services would like you to forward the attached information to
each student so that parents/guardians can be better informed about the A
(H1N1) Virus (Swine Flu).
Ms. Micheline Sciberras
Director General
Directorate for Educational Service
Over the past days, the Health and
Education authorities have noticed an increase in absenteeism among
school-age children. This increase was expected since we are now in the
influenza season and we are presently in a pandemic. There have also been a
number of confirmed cases of Influenza A (H1N1) amongst school children. The
situation is not considered to be in any way alarming.
Influenza H1N1 is a mild disease and almost all of the ill
children have recovered without any complications. Parents need to be aware
that if their child is suffering from symptoms of influenza (which may
include a combination of cough, fever, running nose, headaches, muscle
aches, diarrhoea, vomiting) the child should not be sent to school and they
should speak to their family doctor for further advice. Children suffering
from Influenza-like illness need to stay away from school for seven days
from the onset of symptoms.
We would like to reassure parents that the Public Health
and Education Directorates are closely monitoring the situation constantly
and presently we recommend that children not showing any symptoms of
influenza should keep on attending school as usual. School closures are not
recommended at this time because the virus is widespread within the
community. Children are likely to be repeatedly exposed to the virus in
their every day lives and therefore closing a school will no longer be
effective in slowing the spread of the virus.
By practicing good hygiene everyone can play their part
and help to reduce transmission of all viruses, including Influenza A (H1N1)
· Wash hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of virus
from your hands to face or to other people.
· Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue
when possible.
· Dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully.
· Make sure children follow this advice.
Educational material, lessons and other presentations have
been distributed amongst all schools to further reinforce this practice.
Further recommendations may be issued should the situation
change. |

Message
from the Head Of School
I am pleased that I was appointed as Head of such a
good school. I have been an assistant head in this school for 5 years and
know exactly what are the strengths and weaknesses of the school. With the
help of my assistant heads, Ms J. Abela, Ms S. Casarini and Mr S.Sillato, I
am going to continue to focus on quality teaching to all our students. All
of us at NINU CREMONA LYCEUM COMPLEX aim and strive towards the holistic
education of the students under our care. We want to give a quality
education that stimulates each student to develop his maximum potential.
Nowadays, the world of work expects the students to
be able to continue with the development of their skills and abilities after
they leave school. We want to give our students those skills and abilities
that makes them capable and enable them for such demands of life long
learning.
We want to make the 5 year stay that the students
spend in our school a memorable one, also enriched with positive and moral
values. I believe that the school is the second home for the student.
Therefore they should be proud to belong and form part of such a welcoming
school. As I have already pointed out, I am proud to form part of this home.
All the staff at NINU CREMONA LYCEUM COMPLEX have this at their heart.
Moreover, you students and parents, our stakeholders, can help us achieve
our goals for the benefit of all and can support our efforts.
Thank You.
Dr. Francis Abela.
