Not so very long ago, Marsaskala was a quiet little fisherman's village with a very small population. The few children who lived there could be easily accomodated in a country house called Villa Mondello.

However due to its increasing popularity as a summer sea-side resort, M'skala's population was increasing so rapidly, that the building of a proper school was inevitable. The foundation stone of the new school was laid on 20th November 1965. The architect, Mr. Joe Borg Grech, created one of the most beautiful schools on the island with airy, comfortable classrooms and a sizeable hall surrounded by lovely, natural surroundings with plenty of open space and gardens. Lately a Maltese 'girna'(corbelled stone hut) was built in its grounds. The facade of the school incorporated a 'brise'-soleil to reduce direct sunlight as much as possible.

The mastermason was Gori Schembri who was also responsible for the construction of the local parish church. The school, named after  St. Anne, the village patron saint, was blessed on June 13, 1969.

Click here! The first headmaster was Mr P.L.Bugeja(A.I.E. London). Further extensions were necessary and in 1965 a new wing was constructed and at the moment, plans for new extension works to meet the demands of an ever increasing population, are at an advanced stage.

The first intake of pupils was of 150 pupils while now the school is catering for a child population which includes a number of foreigners coming from U.K., Italy, Germany, Nigeria, Finland, Slovenia and Russia.
