The teacher asks the students to write poems of a specific kind (for example: acrostic poems). The students type their poem on a Word document and decorate the page with pictures related to the poem. Poems are exchanged with partner schools via email.
This project also forms part of the School Development Programme - Creative Writing.

of project

students practise using their computer skills by typing their poem on a Word

activity.
The

their work with foreign students.

students are exposed to different styles of poems.
The
students have the opportunity to publish their work on the Internet.
The
students have fun reading the poems they receive from the foreign students.
The
students are exposed to the work of foreign students.
COLOUR
POEMS
I asked the Form 3 students to write a COLOUR POEM. A COLOUR POEM is a poem about a specific colour.
The students chose a colour they wanted to write a poem about and reflected about it. They described
what smells, sounds and objects remind them of that colour. They also described how that colour feels to the touch
and what emotions that colour evokes in them.

ACROSTIC
POEMS
I asked the Form 2 students to write an ACROSTIC POEM. To write an ACROSTIC POEM, the poet uses the
letters in the topic word to begin each line. The students wrote the poem using their name as a topic word. They
used each letter of their name to write their poem in which they described themselves.
