Lorenzo Gafà Boys Secondary School is situated just outside the walls of the maritime city of Vittoriosa and close to the Kalkara gate, in the area known as Il-Fortini. Originally built as a primary school in the fifties it was turned into a trade school for girls in the seventies. In 1992 it became a secondary school for boys and two years later the school was renamed Lorenzo Gafa`, a famous seventeenth century baroque architect who hails from Vittoriosa. As the school population grew and with it the need for a healthier educational environment the school embarked on a restructuring and refurbishment project which was completed in 2002 under the direction and inspiration of Mr. Horace Caruana, and Mr. Philip Bonello, adminitrators of the school. The school was officially inaugurated on 11 June 2002.

It is a small school with a population of about 250 boys between the ages of 11 and 16.
