Mission Statement:
To provide a support
service and an educational programme to unmarried pregnant minors, leading
them to adopt a positive attitude towards motherhood while empowering
them to pursue their career path.
The main services
offered are:
- Providing a
guidance and counselling service to pregnant girls under eighteen,
their boyfriends and their parents as required;
- Providing psychological,
moral and educational support;
- Providing support
to girls both before and after the birth of the child;
- Providing programmes
in three main areas; namely,
A programme
to prepare these girls to become mothers, the process of pregnancy,
preparation to give birth, baby care, parenting skills.
A programme
based on self-development with the aim of enhancing interpersonal
skills.
Educational
programmes aimed at enhancing their academic development.
- Providing a
service to the young unmarried mothers through:
Support in
guidance and counselling sessions both individually and within group
support.
Various inputs
to enhance parenting skills and issues relating to child development.
- Facilitating
contacts and the support of, other relevant organisations and services
for the benefit of both schoolgirl mother and child;
- Liaising with,
and advising, school administrators regarding pregnant students according
to specific needs of case.

‘Nifhmu
'l Uliedna fil-Bidliet’
“Nifhmu 'l Uliedna fil-Bidliet” is a programme offered by UNIT GHOZZA to Parents of students attending the public schools. This programme consists of a two-hour seminar, including a slides presentation, to help parents understand their children in their sexual development and to facilitate communication between parents and children on sexual issues.
Until last scholastic year, this seminar was being offered to parents of students in Forms one and two of Junior Lyceums and Secondary Schools and to parents of Year 6 in the primary schools.
During this scholastic year, this programme is being offered to parents of Years 5 and 6 students in Primary Schools only.
