parents' circle
a bonanza of activities
The Parents' Circle has for some years now been doing the school and the students proud with the numerous yearly activities which they have so generously been organizing. Apart from activities intended to give financial support to the school and other of an entertainment nature, they do not fail to maintain a healthy dose of educational and cultural projects for the benefit of both parents and students. The following is but a small showcase of the typical activities that have by now become quite a tradition in the school calendar.
Among other activities, the Parents' Circle organizes the ever popular Pizza Day (with some 600 pizzas going on sale in a few minutes). Just as popular are the Cake's Day and Figolla Day which also go a long way to provide the necessary funds to supplement the school needs. New curtains for various classrooms at the Cospicua school was another project which the Parents' Circle had been entrusted with, thus offering some protection from the glorious (but hot!) sunny days of the last term. Mother's Day festivities rounds up a year full of activities. It always attracts a wide participation by parents, rounding up the school year in a most appropriate manner. The thanksgiving Mass together with the usual token gifts offered to our hard working Mums and the inevitable plant sale are the highlights of this memorable day.
ftira day
On Friday 19th October the school Parents' Circle organised a Ftira Day for our students. Parents, staff members and students spent Friday morning preparing this healthy snack which was then distributed to students during the mid-morning break. Over 600 "ftajjar" were sold and this school fundraising activity was undoubtedly a huge success. Thanks to the many staff members, parents and students who helped in the organisation of this activity.
rice salad day

Recently, the school's Parents' Circle organised a Rice Salad Day for our students. With the help of a number of students and teachers, this was a very successful event during which many of our students bought a healthy rice salad for their lunch. This scholastic year, activities such as these organised by the Parents' Circle have aimed at promoting healthy eating among our students. This was a very successful event and sincere thanks goes to all parents, teachers and students who helped in the organisation of the event.
Kemm hi Sabiħa l-Ħajja

Young people are always almost associated with deviant behaviour, drugs and alcohol. Educational experiences often focus on a message based on fear transmitted in a paternalistic attitude. Experience has shown that this has resulted in apathy towards the message itself. In view of this the PSD teachers, guidance teachers, school administration at Verdala Junior Lyceum and staff from the Anti-Substance policy team organised a series of events during the week of Monday 7th April till Friday 11th April, themed Kemm hi Sabiħa l-Ħajja.
The activities ranged from exhibits of students' work to a community fair where youth organisations shared their activities with the students. Various model speakers attended to give their talks inspiring the students to search within their life and make good use of their qualities. The week ended with a colourful activity that focused on non-alcoholic drinking were students prepared cocktails using healthy ingredients. This week proved to be fruitful in every way where students involved themselves in all activities.
