PROJECT AIMS

Instructional Objectives

  1. To provide the children with a step by step experience of the butterfly cycle.
  2. To learn the body parts of the adult butterfly.
  3. To develop information handling skills on the Internet such as guided web searches, copying  and saving text and pictures.
  4. To enhance desk top publishing skills by using the Print Shop Premier 5(the school software in Year 4)by producing charts, banners, posters and bookmarks to consolidate the knowledge acquired during the project.
  5. To promote cross-curricular learning experiences such as reading stories and poems, comprehension and other simple exercises accompanied by other enjoyable activities such as butterfly crafts and colouring.

General Educational Objectives

  1. To learn interesting facts about caterpillars and butterflies such as their life, food and habitat.
  2. To find out which species of butterflies which can be found on the Maltese Islands.
  3. To become aware of the measures which need to be taken to save butterflies from extinction.
