THE SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Audit Exercise and Review

A general review of the School Development Plan was started in the Scholastic Year 1997-1998. Following a preliminary audit exercise, a number of projects aiming towards the general improvement of school effectiveness were drawn. Through the following years most of these projects have been started and are currently in full swing.

The whole staff believes that a school development plan is an on-going process. Apart from new projects being discussed, working projects are therefore still in review and updated as necessary.

Sub-Committees

For an effective implementation of the projects, all members of the administrative and teaching staff are somehow involved in one or more of the projects. Staff members have been deployed in sub-committees supervising projects falling under five main categories including:

  • Curriculum
  • Resources
  • Communication and Discipline
  • Environment and School Effectiveness
  • Staff Development

Group Representatives

In order to ensure that all parties concerned are represented in all the sub-committees, staff members represent eight distinct groups which make part of the school community, as follows:

  • The Administration
  • Kindergarten 3-yr olds
  • Kindergarten 4-yr olds
  • Year 1: 5- and 6-yr olds
  • Year 2: 6- and 7-yr olds
  • Year 3: 7- and 8-yr olds
  • Children with Special Educational Needs
  • Parents - through School Council parent members

This means that each Sub-Committee has a minimum of eight members. Members of staff who may be transferred to other schools from year to year are replaced by new members, but the representative groups are always the same.
