"Education in Sport - Sport in Education"

All project co-ordinators met during a contact seminar entitled

"Education in Sport-Sport in Education" which was organised by the Czech Republic National Agency in October 2003.

During that seminar, the project partners decided to join forces and apply for a Comenius school project which is funded by the European Union.  The project which is related to sport and health has been accepted by all National Agencies.

All project co-ordinators together with other teachers from the six partner countries will organise several activities related to health and sport in their respective school. Activities will take place every scholastic year from October 2004 till June 2007.

What are the expected impacts on the participants and other interested parties?

The impact of this 3-year project will be a student body who will be made more physically active, healthier and happier.

The students will be able to compare and contrast nutrition, fitness levels and core values of the students from each participating country and also be educated in the importance of nutrition and a balanced diet.

Students will also have a better understanding of the importance of the values in sport through active participation.

The final impact of the project should be to integrate the students from different cultures with a common purpose.

The teachers and each participating school will benefit greatly from this project, with students becoming healthier, fitter and happier, the learning environment will be greatly enhanced.

The local community will also reap the benefits. With so many of their younger members grasping the opportunity to live a healthier life through sport and education, this will hopefully be passed on to the next generation of students.
